Our Story

I thought my car might need brakes, so I took it to a friend, an ASE certified master mechanic who fixes cars in his spare time. I thought I’d save a few bucks, and he makes some extra money in his spare time.

He took one look at my brakes and told me “You don’t need brakes. You have at least 50% of the pad left. As he was putting the car back together, I became curious and asked him “If I had taken my car to 100 repair garages, how many would have told me the truth?

He looked at me and said “Probably 20%.” There is a lot of pressure these days for garages and dealers to sell what they call “preventative maintenance services, a.k.a. repairs you don’t need.”

As we were talking, my neighbor came over and introduced himself. When he learned my friend was a mechanic who worked on cars in his spare time, he said “Every time you take your car in you feel like they are taking advantage of you and charging big bucks you for stuff you don’t need. I wish I had someone like that.”
